International Race License
Tri NZ has introduced an International Race License which is required to enter any ITU event held nationally or internationally. The basis for this license and associated fee is that the ITU now require the NF’s to carry out the entry and administration of all Age Group and Elite athletes in all ITU races. This administration includes but is not limited to entering athletes, monitoring wait-lists, notifying athletes of position on waitlist, educating athletes on uniform and other rules, late withdrawals, checking insurance, and managing communication with ITU. Once an athlete has purchased this license for the season they are able to enter multiple ITU events including, World Championship Series Races (Elite & Age Group), World Championships Races, World Cups, Continental Cups etc. All entries are subject to the ITU Qualification Criteria
Note:
- An International Race License is required in order for Tri NZ to enter any athlete in an ITU international level event (including any hosted in NZ).
- All International Race License holders will be required to be a member of Tri NZ ($0)
- The fee for this license is NZ$195 (incl GST).
- The license is valid from 1 November to 31 October in each year
- All applicants need to have a current Tri NZ (TRIBE) Membership and Affiliated Club Membership
- There are 2 levels for this license – amateur and professional. Anyone seeking designation as a "professional” athlete will have to apply to the National Coach and the application will go through an approval process before a license is issued. Any athlete seeking entry into an ITU event as elite will be required to have an International Race License – Professional Level.
- Age Group World Champs athletes will have to purchase an Amateur Level International Race License once they have been notified of their selection in order to confirm their spot on the team.
- Tri NZ will send athletes an International Race License card, which specifies their level (Professional or Amateur).
- Where an ITU Oceania Champs is held with in a New Zealand National Champs event the International Race License requirement is waived.
- Where a Tri NZ World Champs Selection race (Age Group or Elite) is an ITU event the International Race License requirement is waived.
