The Winter Games 2011 in Wanaka offer a twist on traditional triathlon.
The Winter Games is an international winter sports competition featuring alpine skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, short track speed skating, ice hockey, curling, cross country skiing, winter triathlon and freestyle skiing over a 16 day period from 13-28 August 2011.
Events take place at various locations throughout the Otago and Canterbury regions.
The Winter Triathlon, on Saturday August 27, consists of a 6.8km snow run, 12km mountain bike and 9.5km cross country ski.
The event will double as New Zealand's National Winter Triathlon Championships, is open to both elite and non-elite athletes and has no entry fees.
Entry cut off is 5pm Friday August 19, 2011.
