Nicky Samuels and Bevan Docherty have dominated the field at the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon.
The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon is a prestigious event that attracts world champions, Olympic medallists and the best amateur triathletes from America and overseas.
Athletes put their endurance to the ultimate test as they take on San Francisco's icy waters, steep hills and rugged terrain.
The race features a 2.4km swim through frigid waters from Alcatraz Island to the shores of the St. Francis Yacht Club, a gruelling 30km bike ride and a 12.8km run through the trails of the Golden Gate Recreational Area.
Samuels was dominant in the women's field, winning in a time of 2:13:13 with a gap of more than four minutes between her and second place finisher Leanda Cave.
Docherty showed he's tracking well towards Olympic selection in August with a strong showing against a quality field.
Andy Potts won the men's field with Docherty 34 seconds behind in a time of 2:00:19.
Fellow Kiwi Dylan McNeice came home in 14th place.
