Hamilton's Graham O'Grady has secured a big pay day by winning the Rev3 Half in Portland, Oregon.
The 29-year-old put in a strong performance to win the 2km swim, 90km bike and 21km run in a time of 3:51:11.
It was a tight battle to the finish for O'Grady, who beat Richie Cunningham to the line by just nine seconds.
The impressive result sees him bank a winner's cheque of US$7000 (NZ$8390).
Victory is all the sweeter for O'Grady coming off the back of Challenge Cairns, where he was forced to pull out due to dehydration.
Fellow Kiwi James Bowstead also raced in Portland, continuing his consistent form in ninth place.
