Three Kiwis have finished in the top 10 at Ironman 70.3 EagleMan in Cambridge, Maryland.

In the women's field Sam Warriner found her way onto the podium in third place behind Mirinda Carfrae and Tyler Stewart.

For the men James Bowstead ran into fifth thanks to the second fastest bike time of the day while Terenzo Bozzone came home ninth.

Coming out of the Choptank River first for the women was American Amanda Stevens and Canada's Tenille Hoogland. Approximately three minutes back were Carfrae, Elly Franks (AUS) and defending champion Warriner.

Out on the bike course Hoogland took to the front and rode 2:20:24 to come off the bike with a two minute lead over Warriner as she started the run.

Hoogland ran tough but was caught by Carfrae to take the win in 4:15:31 and re-claim the EagleMan title she won in 2009.

Stewart followed up her top bike split with a second best run to pass Stevens, Hoogland and Warriner for second. Warriner overtook Hoogland for third in a time of 4:23:02.

In the men's race, American John Kenny led everyone out of the water and onto the bike course. He was chased by defending champion Bozzone, Stanislav Krylov (RUS), Matty Reed (USA) and Ti Tollakson.

Tollakson grabbed the race lead early and extended that lead with each pedal stroke. By the time Tollakson completed the ride he had a healthy lead onto the run.

Trailing Tollakson were New Zealand's James Bowstead (4:18 down), Bozzone (4:19), Krylov (4:33), and Reed (4:42).

Tollakson held on to take victory while Bowstead battled to hold onto fifth and Bozzone faded on the run, perhaps bothered by a niggling Achilles injury.
