
Open Elite World Championships Qualification Criteria
A. Olympic Distance Triathlon
Qualification to the World Championships will be:
- The top 3 men and women from the five (5) Continental Championships in the year of the Triathlon World Championships will qualify for the ITU Championships
- ITU World Cup Rankings: The top forty (40) ranked athletes twenty one (21) days prior to the date of the Championships will qualify for the ITU World Championships.
- ITU Points list: The next fifteen (15) will be taken from the ITU Points list twenty-one (21) days prior to the date of the event will qualify. (Athletes qualified already by the ITU World Cup Ranking will not be eligible)
- The final five (5) spots will be for invitations, changes to the World Cup or ITU Points list after the twenty-one (21) day cut-off or will be returned to the World Cup Ranking fourteen (14) days prior to the event.
- Maximum of six (6) per country.
B. Aquathlon
Six men and women per country, selected by their NF will be admitted to compete at the Aquathlon World Championships
C. Duathlon
Six men and women per country, selected by their NF will be admitted to compete at the Duathlon World Championships
D. Long Distance Duathlon
Six men and women per country, selected by their NF will be admitted to compete at the Long Distance Duathlon World Championships
E. Long Distance Triathlon
Six men and women per country, selected by their NF will be admitted to compete at the Long Distance Triathlon World Championships
F. Winter Triathlon
Six men and women per country, selected by their NF will be admitted to compete at the Winter Triathlon World Championships
