Iconic Kiwi Cameron Brown has been named as one of the best Ironman athletes of all time by Inside Triathlon Magazine.
Despite never winning the famous Kona Ironman in Hawaii, no athlete has dominated one race like Brown has at Ironman New Zealand in Taupo.
Incredibly, he has won the race nine times from 2001 until now and is attempting a record tenth victory in on March 5.
Brown has finished second in Kona twice (2001 and 2005), third twice (2002, 2003) and has snared a top 10 finish at the world championships six times.
Brown is joined in the top 10 by an impressive list of legendary athletes.
Among them is Dave Scott, who was the first athlete inducted into the Ironman Hall of Fame, thanks to his six Hawaiian Ironman titles (1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987).
On the list is Belgian Luc Van Lierde, the first ever European to win in Hawaii in his debut appearance who set the course record still in place today.
Craig Alexander, Mark Allen, Tim DeBoom, Thomas Hellriegel, Chris McCormack, Peter Reid and Normann Stadler are also named in the top 10.
