2012 JUNIOR and U/23 Triathlon NZ Time Trial/Test
2012 Confirmation Time Trial Policy
ITU Triathlon World Championships (TWC)
Junior: 750m Swim / 20k Bike / 5k Run
U/23: 1.5k Swim / 40k Bike / 10k Run
1. Time Trial and Peak Power Test Criteria
1.1. To confirm selection for the team athletes may be requested to submit a 400m Swim (50m pool – No wetsuit) and /or a bike peak power test of 20sec and 3 minutes and /or a 5 km Track Run time trial result to the Tri NZ National coach and/or the Tri NZ Elite Selection Commission
1.2. These time trials (TT's) or tests need not be performed on the same day but must be completed before the 16th of April, 2012 for the U19 athletes and the 30th April for the U23 athletes and be endorsed by a credited person set by the Tri NZ National Coach.
1.3. If requested athletes wanting to be considered for selection in the TEAM need to achieve the following minimum results in the TT/tests below:

Note: 1. For the swim TT the swimmer must be in a lane on their own and is allowed to have a dive start, they may have a pace maker in a lane next to them.
Note: 2. For the run TT the runner will be allowed a pace makers, however they are not allowed to touch the athlete who is carrying out the time trial.
Note: 3. For the bike peak power test a calibrated stationary cycle or calibrated power meter on an indoor trainer is acceptable. Tri NZ will supply a calibrated power meter if required
1.4. If a current selected athlete fails any of the times/bike watts the first time, they will have one more chance (maximum of two chances per discipline) as long as it is done before the 16th of April, 2012 for the U19 athletes and before the 30th April for the U23 athletes.
1.5. If by the set date a current selected athlete has not achieved the above times/bike watts then the selection will be referred to the Tri NZ Elite Selection Commission for consideration.
1.6. The 1st and 2nd reserves in that category may be given the opportunity between the dates (TBD) to attempt the swim, run times or bike test, however they must achieve times/bike watts to be considered.
