What is Triathlon?

Triathlon is a sport that you can do very easily. You do not have to be super fit like an Olympic Athlete; you can just be yourself and do it at your own pace. Most kids swim in a pool or at the beach, ride their bikes with family and friends or run around for their sport or play. Triathlon allows you to do all of these activities at the one time. You get to swim, bike and run all in one go!

Why is triathlon good for you?

Triathlon is a great sport to do and is very good for a growing body. This is because triathlon is made up of three different sports and involves a wide range of muscle groups, so you can grow strong and keep fit!
Triathlon also,
• Allows you to develop lots of skills that you use in other activities
• Can help improve your swimming
• Can help you learn the road rules so you can be safe on your bike
• Can help you get fit running so you can play other sports you like such as soccer, tennis, rugby, netball etc.
• Is a very good way to practice being healthy and active
• Is heaps of fun and is a great way to meet new friends

If you have a medical condition:

• Please make sure you note the details on your event entry form
• Remind the staff at event registration
• Make sure that your parents/guardian have any required medication with them on the day
• Know that if you are feeling ill or unwell to stop and tell the event marshals that are there to help you
• Please make sure that you also advise the Event Organisers of who to contact in case of emergency, whether it is your parents or a relative or guardian
